SUMMER PROGRAM 2021: THE ART OF WELLNESS AND AGROECOLOGY

During July, 2022 we were receiveing 42 students, mostly from public schools in the San Juan area. This students were participating for second year in workshops focusing on agroecology, wellness and art in Fundación Cortés offered by Jerome Zayas, Stephanie Rivera and Angélica Rivera, respectively. Our focus this second time was to analize deeper sustainability practices and meeting persons and projects working with this practices from different angles. We visited the Corporación Piñones se Integra (COPI), the Escuela Deportiva de Vela de Carolina and received visits from the poet Coco Balé visited and the apicultor Rafael Dávila, among other invited guests. Definetely an unforgivable summer! We give thanks to the support from Peter Alfond Foundation for the second year sponsorship, and the Red Nose For Puerto Rico Fund andministered by Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico.

SUMMER PROGRAM 2021: THE ART OF WELLNESS AND AGROECOLOGY

We expanded the Educa Cortés program: The Art of Wellness and Agroecology for 41 scholarship students during the 4 weeks of July 2021, integrating the Carnegie Library of Old San Juan as a third educational space. The La Perla Farm School, the Carnegie Library and the exhibit halls of Fundación Cortés received participants between the ages of 5-18, who received a La Borinqueña comic book, art materials, gardening materials, among many other things. Reading and the values ​​of Fundación Cortés were actively integrated as they had the opportunity to attend the following workshops: Wellness and Mental Health, Agroecology, Art and Nature. We thank the Chocobar Cortés team for providing snacks and always supporting us in our projects. All this was possible thanks to the sponsorship of the Peter Alfond Foundation.

VIRTUAL SUMMER WORKSHOPS 2020

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic at the Cortés Foundation, we undertook the task of creatively innovating and developing a different summer program to adapt to the situation and better serve students. The needs of the 2020 Summer La necesidad de este verano 2020 nos lanzó a diseñar un currículo de verano enfocado en Bienestar, Manejo de Emociones, Expresión Creativa y Manejo Psicosocial.

CORTÉS SUMMER WORKSHOPS FOR YOUTH

For six consecutive years, the Cortés Foundation has been offering the Cortés Summer Workshops for Youth during the month of July, with over 200 scholarships managed for children and young people from public schools, mostly from our community of Old San Juan, as well as from other schools in the Metro area.
